Breaking News: More Books Removed! Many Retained.

Only Board Member Darla Williams speaks out against these books!

Tonight at the Bartow County School System, 5 people spoke out against keeping sexually explicit books and one showed for the first time to defend a “process” that would allow them to be retained.

There is more detail to review. But yours truly is unavailable to report in detail tomorrow. So here are the highlights. (There was coverage from WANF which should be on that local CBS channel, but it is unclear what angle will be taken by them. UPDATE 4/16. The story was slanted against removing books the reporter read, but a reasonable representation of events. Kudos to Board Member Darla Williams. She spoke against keeping these books. The others were silent on removing these books. It was a loud silence.

AFTER this morning’s post, the School System complied with a public information request from last week. At the beginning of last week, they had indicated there was no change to the 3/15 list of books previously removed/retained (see post from last Monday 4/8). HOWEVER, due to citizen action last week, many books the school had defended as necessary to retain are now removed! Including books exposed last week.

Sadly, many very explicit books are retained.

There will be more detail on this on Wednesday. For now here is the list of books continued to be retained and those finally removed.
